BRP revived and strengthened the Evinrude and Johnson brands, once owned by the former Outboard Marine Corporation (OMC), with the introduction of the Evinrude E-TEC outboard engine in 2003. The E-TEC two-stroke, direct-injection engine technology ushered in a revolutionary new generation of outboard engines that has set a new benchmark in the marine industry.  BRP continues to expand and enhance one of the industry’s leading engine lines by offering five platforms and 42 models, from 40 hp to 250 hp, and many unique features and benefits consumers want for a worry-free, no hassle boating experience.  With its Evinrude E-TEC engines, BRP won the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) coveted Clean Air Technology Award in 2005, the first time ever this award was given to an outboard engine manufacturer. Our outboards meet and often go beyond the emission standards of the EPA, the European Union, and the California Air Resources Board (CARB).  They are the first two-stroke engines since 1976 to receive authorization from the nautical authorities for operation on Lake Constance (Bodensee), central Europe’s second-largest freshwater lake and one of the most environmentally sensitive water bodies in Europe. These two recognitions are among many tributes to BRP’s ingenuity and leadership in design and engineering.  BRP continues the Evinrude outboard legend so boaters everywhere can make the most of their time on the water.
